About me

I'm Meghan Parker, a North Vancouver-based artist and visual arts teacher, best known as the author of TeachingArtfully. This graphic novel, which began as Canada's first autobiographical Master's thesis in comic book form, is a powerful visual memoir.

In TeachingArtfully, I use comics for a self-reflective inquiry into my early career, exploring the development of my artistic and teaching practices. The book emphasizes visual literacy and the importance of art education, delving into daily classroom life, student-teacher relationships, and how art connects to life outside of school.

When I'm not in the classroom, I paint whimsical floral forests and bears. I also channel my creativity into other projects, including my upcoming illustrated cookbook, CookingArtfully, share art resources with teachers on my Teacher Pay Teachers Shop. I even co-created a world of fairies with my daughter, available as a coloring book and swag on my website!
